Description
Harri, meaning ‘stone’ in Basque, is a display font inspired by the distinctive letterforms found in signs and fascias across the Basque Country. This unique lettering style, often used to signify identity, evolved from ancient inscriptions carved on gravestones, which can still be found in the French part of the Basque Country (Behe Nafarroa, Lapurdi, and Zuberoa). Harri incorporates elements from these engraved letterforms, as well as from the current exaggerated shapes derived from them, while bearing in mind their predecessors: Romanesque inscriptions and, ultimately, Roman capitals. This evolution is reflected in the weights of the Harri family, ranging from the clean, formal, Roman-inspired light to the extreme, expressive, Basque-style extra bold.
Harri Condensed brings the personality of Harri into a slimmer, more compact form. The Basque-inspired shapes remain clear and recognizable, while each letter has been carefully adjusted to keep the design balanced and highly legible. It’s designed for situations where space is at a premium —letting you fit more text per line without sacrificing clarity. From headlines and logos to labels and data displays, Harri Condensed makes a strong impression while making the most of every inch of space.
